How To Get To Heaven

However you are now, may you please trust this free gift?

We're sinners.

Doing good does not
earn living forever.

  • Indeed, nobody on earth is always good and never sins. (Ecclesiastes 7:20)

  • Everyone's turned away; all have become corrupt. Nobody does good, not even one. (Psalm 53:3)

  • I'll expose your righteousness and good deeds. None will benefit you. (Isaiah 57:12)

Heaven is a free gift.
Nothing can earn it.
Doing good does not save you.

  • God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. (Ephesians 2:8)

  • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

  • No! We believe it is through the grace of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.” (Acts 15:11)

Our sin penalty makes Heaven undeserved.

The gospel: Jesus Christ died (a sacrifice paying sin penalty), got buried, and was risen.

  • He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God. (Romans 4:25)

  • I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

  • When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. (Romans 5:6)

Jesus died because He could pay our sin penalty.

Only trust the good news alone for Heaven.
False gospels require a different way to live forever.

Heaven doesn't cost money.

  • Jesus answered: "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

  • There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

  • That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I Am who I claim to be, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24)

False gospels often require good actions, feelings, or desires added.
False gospels don't save.

No good actions cause humans to live forever.
Trusting the gospel is how to be saved for Heaven.

Doing/saying these won't earn Heaven:

  • Praying

  • Water baptism

  • Donations/tithing

  • Feeling sorry for sin

  • Letting go of past sin

  • Giving your life to God

  • Sharing your trust/faith/beliefs

  • Planning to follow Jesus at any cost

  • Turning from sin or trying not to sin

  • Confessing "Jesus is Lord" with your mouth

  • Confessing sin, "mortal sins," or "deadly sins"

  • Stopping certain sins, "mortal sins," or "deadly sins"

  • Inviting Jesus into your heart/life, without trusting the gospel

  • Believing the Bible's completely true, without trusting the gospel

The gospel: Jesus died (a sacrifice paying our sin penalty), got buried, and was risen.

To be saved, only trust the gospel alone.
Trusting more for Heaven is a false gospel... which doesn't save.
